looks like a holley double pumper but i could be wrong... I ran one on a 305 back in the day, edelbrock perf intake and headers, ran good for me. guess you wont know till you open it up, rebuild and try to run it.

See if you can get the model # from the guy and look it up, find out if it has the blow-proof power valve.

Looks like a stock Holley that was OE on a Ford or something. I'd avoid it (and I'm pro-Holley).

Cant beat a Q-jet, which is what your truck should have, 750cfm. Dont mess with it unless it needs to be rebuilt. The General knew what he was doing.

I never liked the q-jet because of how complicated it can be to get them tuned right. Edelbrocks are much easier in my opinion, and as you can see opinions vary. Q-jets are nice because of the vacuum secondaries and make good power/economy compared to the mechanical secondaries of the Edelbrock which just dumps fuel down your engine's gullet but the negatives outweighed the positives for me.

I agree, the q-jet is a great carb IF you know the ins and outs of them, and can get them tuned right. It's best just to go with what you know how to repair/tune.

Q-jets are good, but very expensive to test adn tune, I am a die hard holley man, but I have ran a few Q jets over the years that ran fine.
