Need some opinions on my '70. The car sits basically level, but because of the style of the body, it tends to look lower in the rear. I know I want the back of the car to be a little higher than the front... but should I lower the front, or raise the back a little?

Here's how it currently sits:

Looks level to me if you look at the rocker panel. Have you measured the rocker to see if it really is low in the back and not just an optical illusion from the trim moulding? You could try air shocks.

I'm a little torn on this. Normally I would say drop the front an inch or so but I think I would rather raise the back a little. Not much maybe 1 or 2 inches.

Yeah, I can't decide either:baby:

The car does sit level, but the trim makes it look saggy (the '65-'70 full-sizes were all like that).

I'd say it looks very close to level and for sure, if I was not happy with it, I'd raise the back before I'd lower the front. I think if it were me, and wanted just to lift a hair in the back, and if I had remorse, to make it easily adjustable, I'd just do a set of air shocks and be done. It won't take much air to lift it a couple inches, so it should not give that bouncy ride affect. Then if you decide you don't like, let some air out. Gonna be hauling the gang around for a ride, pump it up a bit, when done, let the air out. That's all I'd do that way you can keep the car OEM and not alter any springs. JMO

First off, awesome car dude!!! I'd personally lower the front if you're going to do anything. With that said, if it was mine I'd leave it like it is :waytogo:

Thanks 077:wave:

I guess I'll tinker with the rear of the car. I have some nearly new springs for the rear, but not sure what exactly they are for. They look like the right ones though. I also have some used air shocks that seem to be in decent condition, just need to get the air line kit.

To lower the front, I'd need to pull the springs and cut one coil off each spring.

The rear looks really low as it is. I would raise it a little, and if it doesn't look right you can easily undo it, where if you cut the coil springs you'd need to get new ones to undo that.

Yep, kinda what I was thinking. Go with something that can be undone.

Kinda looks OEM to me. I'd be doing very little to it. Shine it up where possible and run with it.

As far as looks and handling, not much will be changing. Just some new sheet metal and some paint. The frame is rotted. I'm going to pick up a rolling frame to build from, so eventually the body will be put on the new frame/engine/tranny/etc. That's why I just want to use what I have already... eventually it's all getting replaced.
