I'd replace any plastic thrust washers in there with brass while I was in it.
Yes, the only plastic washer is a selective for the pump.

In addition to what's included in the Jegs 555-62014 kit, here are the new parts. Hopefully, I didn't miss anything critical:
- Bronze thrust washers
- Torrington bearings
- Low roller clutch
- Intermediate roller clutch
- All bushings
- Pump gears
- 2-3 accumulator piston (aluminum)
- Sonnax 34910-05K boost valve
- Center support bolt (cut a 4l80E bolt to size)

I have two governors with original gears that are in good shape, but I may replace the gear on one of them later.

Flushed the trans lines before hooking them up to the rebuilt TH400. I didn't expect to see so much metal debris.
Hoping to wrap this up this weekend.

This truck needed A LOT of work because I hadn't maintained it well the 20 years I've owned it. I finally was able to put everything back together, start the engine, and run through the gears; it seems to be shifting great so far.
Here's a list of everything I addressed over the last 4 months as I got deeper into this thing:
- Of course, the trans was rebuilt
- Front coils
- Front stabilizer bushings
- Front and rear shocks
- Brake booster
- Master cylinder
- Front calipers and hoses
- Rear wheel cylinders
- Main bearings
- Rear main seal
- Cooling: radiator, rad hoses, water pump, heater hoses, and thermostat
- Transmission hoses were a mess of 3/8" hose clamped tightly onto 5/16" outlets
- Valve cover gaskets
- Rear diff fluid
- AC, PS, and alternator belts
- PS return hose
- Probably something else I'm forgetting

Nice work! Sounds like she was due. Time for a road trip?

carb return spring, booster check valve/hose, and pcv valve hose, and breather on opposite cover, can you show me how all those are closer up? (the springs need to be replaced with a dual set , so i dont need to see it up close)

Thanks. I only use this truck several times a year for hauling. I hadn't maintained it well over the 20 years I've owned it, so I decided to fix as much as possible while it was down with a failed transmission. There's still some work left, but it drives great and feels more reliable.

First wash in about two years. The grille has oxidation, so it's on my list to address.

I reinstalled the spring with a new aluminum accumulator. The rebuilt transmission with all new bushings, clutches, etc. is ready to go back in the car. Rear end play is 0.0012", and the front end play is 0.0011". Hopefully, it will operate smoothly.
I thought it would be prudent to replace the rear main seal - can of worms opened; I'm now replacing main bearings. For anyone who needs the info, here are the bearing clearance specs for the Chevy 305 and 350 as listed in the Chilton's manual:
#1 (Front): 0.0008 - 0.0020"
#2 - 4 (Intermediate): 0.0011 - 0.0023"
#5 (Rear): 0.0017 - 0.0033"
If I had a dollar for every time I said “….while I am here I might as well….[insert part replacement]…..” I wouldn’t need to play the lottery tonight.

Probably true, but be careful. You are probably talking to a billionaire right now. Just saying
