I was thinking about wheelwells out of trailer fenders.

Whatever works. Something to take the beating from the wheels and protect the body. I saw a plastic inner fender liner from the front of one of Penske's truck's or tractor's in their dumpster I wanted to grab and see if I could mod it to fit.

I think in your case a plastic liner of some sort would work best. I need to fab up something in steel, so my quarters don't end up flapping in the breeze. I'll be cutting out the factory wheel arch too.
