I'd like to know this as well. It might all be made by the same one or two manufacturers though, no matter where you buy it.

I hear the brand ACC mentioned a lot. And for what it's worth, they're what I have to go back in my truck when it's complete.

It also has the jute padding bonded to the back of the carpet.

I think ACC is still the big time manufacturer.

The last time I got ACC carpet, it was decent quality it fit pretty well, but it was very thin and lightweight compared to the factory carpet. It was also more fine and "fuzzy" than the original, much like carpet in newer vehicles. It wasn't a truck, but a 3rd gen Trans Am.

I seem to recall thinking the same thing when I first got it, and pulled it out of the box to look over. I do remember, years ago, seeing a company offering different types of carpet, (cut pile, loop pile, and a couple others) but not being very familiar with carpet industry terms, I had no idea which was actually what would be a direct match to the factory. I have no idea if those choices are still available, or we're stuck with a "this is what we have, take it or leave it" situation.

I put ACC in my Chevelle all the vinyl bits were in the correct location and with minor trimming it fit nicely.

ACC is what I put in my car and those are the floor mats I’m about to get. I agree with the thinness aspect of it, but it’s fresh and clean. The carpet I replaced was abused, grimy, and smelly so this was a great step up. The old carpet was so bad that I drug it out of the car and immediately lit it on fire. This carpet was so putrefying that I didn’t want the new one touching it for a second, but it’ll be easier to trace the old carpet. The floor mats I’m looking at are cutpile for the base option and something called Essex for the premium option, and I think that holds true for their product line.

The loop style carpet is what GM used in '74 and earlier, or sometime around there anyway.

From what I remember, the "Essex" carpet is their thicker, more luxurious version of the standard cut-pile carpet.

GM's cut-pile carpet was not quite as fuzzy, almost kinda knappy looking. It often had a thick, rubber-like backing.
