The truck in question is actually my daily driver. It's a 1995 gmc 1500 shortbed. 1995 is the first year of the newer style interior and is equipped with an air bag. My problem is that the brackets holding the air bag into the wheel itself are broken and let's the air bag just about fall out of the wheel at times.
My main question is will an older non air bag steering wheel fit on the 95?? I really don't want to spend all of the cash for a new air bag equipped wheel when I can get an older one from the junk yard a lot cheaper.
Also while on the topic will the 1988-1994 steering wheel fit my '87 Dually?

I have a 93 steering wheel on my 78 so yes to the second question, but as for the one with the airbag I've got no idea. Can't you get the correct wheel from the junkyard without the airbag in it or is it your airbag that's the broken part?

All of the junk yards in my area only want to sell the wheel with the air bag. Also it seems like the 1995+ steering wheels are made of a softer foam than the older models and any used ones I find have huge chunks missing out of the outer ring or their just falling apart from sitting in a junk yard open to the elements.

I don't see why not. I knew a guy with a 1978 Trans Am wheel on his 1997 C1500.
