steering column

Hello. Ive got a 1983 GMC k1500 manual floor shift. My steering column is real loose, I tried getting in there and tightening it up but i think something deeper inside there is broken. I might be able to get a steering column out of an 81 C20 automatic. Can i use that temporarily until i can get mine fixed?

they are not hard to fix. you just have to keep track of what your doing. isn't there a real good thread on here, on how to do this? highdesertranger
