Steering column question

Hi my c20 was attempted to be stolen before I bought it which I did know but they cut the steering column up trying to start it the truck came with a new/used steering column but after I took the old one out I discovered that the old one has a square shaft and the new one has a splined shaft at the end of them the new one is a tilt the old one isn’t would it be easier to buy a new intermediate shaft with a splined end or to get a new steering column with the square end or is it possible to take the steering column apart it doesn’t seem like it but I have heard you can thanks

I would go for the tilt column and get a new steering shaft and coupler and vibration damper/rag joint. this would improve steering a lot if your steering box is in good condition.

Go with the tilt and the Jeep YJ shaft upgrade(cheap on eBay paid $39.00 for mine) F%$#@ the rag joint shaft, it is A piece of cake and then you have U-Joints on each end of the shaft, you tube it, Mine is actually a Jeep XJ Cherokee 84-94 shaft used, or you cab buy a new one, I put an aftermarket tilt column in after a 15 year old kid stole my truck twice in 4 days and messed up the collar with the ignition switch , it is repairable but went new, steering much tighter with the u-joint shaft on my K20, Tracey
