As far as your speedo bouncing until you hit 55 and it smooths out, that may very well be a broken or damage tooth on your poly plastic speedo gears in the transmisison. It happens sometimes. Simple fix if you feel like removing the driveshaft and trans tailhousing. OR, if lucky, its the driven gear and you can simply pul the assembly from the side of the case and replace that gear only. Sometimes it that gear too, and that is about a 5 minute fix.
