My '97 crew cab, Rawhide. Only has 133K on him, 5.7 Vortec like my Burb. Bought him last year, from the original owner's family.
And he does do some work from time to time, besides hauling the 3 of us around.

Pulling the square a couple months back. Needs some helper bags but pulled it just fine. Pulled down 10-11mpg too

Must be pretty flat terrain if you're getting the pulling!

Nope, that was north Ga to southern IL through TN. Through Chattanooga and Nashville, up over Mount Eagle. Worst tank was 9.8 and best was 11.5.

New job = new truck…

Slightly disappointed as the last 7-8 years have all been Chebbies, but the best kind of Ford is a free one!
Couple observations comparing to the last 2 Chebbies, a ‘20 Trail boss 5.3 and a ‘23 with the baby Dmax.
Frod has some preferable amenities on similar trim package trucks and GM does as well. Neither GM came with active collision avoidance or blind spot monitors. Frod has both. Ford stereo and dash display not as nice.
While the 5.3 is good power and the 3.0 Dmax was every bit as comparable, the Coyote motor absolutely blows the doors off of both. And that’s with 3.31 gears!

Mileage is similar between the 5.0 and 5.3. Maybe slight nod to the 5.0, too early to tell. 17mpg in mixed city, traffic and freeway.
Baby Dmax was in the 24mpg range doing the same duty.
And those are honest mpgs from someone who drives them all like rentals!
The Frod read 20.5 avg from the delivery trip from CO to WA, delivery driver said he was running 75-80mph on the open road.
Regardless, the mpg on these newer half tons is nothing short of amazing. Around 50% better even with close to 50% more power on tap than say 20 years ish ago.

All brand loyalty bs aside, that Ford is a very nice truck. Except the headlights SUCK! Being a XLT, it apparently gets headlights from 1992….theyre yellow light and honestly not much brighter than the old squarebody with 30 year old sealed beams in it! Although I’d imagine the GM work trucks with the stacked low/high beams are equally as pathetic. My last 3 old Chebbies had the “good” headlights. Not sure of the marketing ploy there, as I could replace all 6 forward lights with decent LEDs for under $200….

Not everyday driver per say but taking some of that duty since I sold the charger an got the mechanicals mostly sorted on it an got it dropped. I can also semi retire the C10 from truck related duty now too.

My GF has a similar truck, STX package SuperCrew with the 5.8' bed, 2wd. Coyote/10-speed and it's impressive! Her mileage is roughly the same as yours, 17-19ave (she's got somewhere in the 40kish miles on it now), it'll do 24/25 on the hwy if you keep the speed down and it'll walk my Ram. I don't like the base steering wheel in it and the seating position is odd to me, I'd have to have one with the electric seats if I paid for it. Completely agree on the lights though, I keep trying to talk her into letting me upgrade them but she hates LEDs  I love the Coyote motor though, I'd buy an F150 in a heartbeat. Only reason I didn't is I couldn't find one with the options I liked in my price range

I reckon I’m a Jeep guy now
Got her pretty cheap. Will tinker on her a bit, have fun with it over the summer and then probably pass her on to the next guy by end of summer.

I'd love to have a TJ to play with someday. We have some decent trails up in north Ga/TN, they're alotta fun to take the top off of and ride around. Gotta have the 4.0 and a 5 or 6-speed though
Absolutely!! This one's got the 5 speed, 4.0 combo. Cannot wait for weather to warm up so that we can take the top and doors off and roll her around. My kids are in love with it already!! This one was by far the best bang for the buck I found on Marketplace for Wranglers. I'm going to replace the front fenders (are pretty rotten), seats (super worn out) and do some other upkeep on her but mainly just drive it. She's got no rust through other than on top of the front fenders. From what I've seen that's pretty remarkable for a '97!!

Also, now that I have another DD again I can start working on getting the dually lower to the ground :pimp:

Agree 100%. I had an original 5.0 coyote truck 2011 and it pulled harder than any half ton I’d ever had. And this one a decade later is the same. It rips.
75mph 2nd gear all over the road burnout, instantly.
It lights up tires as fast as the srt.

Does yours have the selectable drive modes? With her driving in Eco, she can average 20mpg-ish but it's like it has a dead pedal, I hate it. Sport is awesome, it's like it added 100hp but it's too touchy for daily driving. Normal mode is what I drive around in and get 17-19ish usually. I need to figure out what gear its got :hmm:
