Ok, fan no good. Pics coming asap of the otherwise good installation---i used a SPAL wiring kit and Edlebrock lighted toggle.

Can anyone recommend a bolt-in unit?

I'll toss my fan kit out there for another option-it's a new set of fans from a 2010 F150 with my 3-speed conversion harness-it uses (2) 100A and (2) 50A relays and a fixed resistor board circuit to vary resistance to give you three speeds....

These fans are rated at 6000 CFM-measuring 32x19x6.75 and are the most robust fan assembly you can possibly find and will keep anything cool! Specifically designed to accommodate BBC or 6.2L truck radiators.

Dual temp pigtail connector tower....center wire goes to engine ground, the other two are low and medium speed triggers....if used with my 3-speed harness there is an AC circuit which triggers high speed. Nothing is free in terms of power and these NEW Motorcraft OEM fans are the king!!

I used to be a vendor for Spal for a short time but after their "third" improved and revised fan controller it still didn't handle running an OEM Mark VIII fan I had at the time. Then found out Spal was making more and more inferior controllers with a 30A max rating and had built in over/under current protection circuits that would basically shut off if current approached 30A!

I'm sure the F5 falls into that category too-sure it'll run a pos aftermarket Derale or Flexalite fan but try to run any type of robust OEM fan and the damn things fall on their face it seems. So I went to my drawing board and came up with a bullet proof fan kit-sure it isn't cheap but it will power any possible fan you can throw at it if maximum fan performance is what you need.

I made brackets out of 14ga and welded them to the core support. I like to use parts that are readily available. I think these were $120 at Rockauto.

Nice! I drilled 3/8" holes in the radiator support to slip in extruded u-nuts, and used long bolts and aluminum tubing/washers to serve as standoffs cut to just the right length to give the fan mounts a little tension. Turned out to be pretty sturdy. I dont think this pic shows the tubing standoffs, I was still trying to figure out how I was going to mount it but you get the idea.

So for the Windstar conversion, what years of Windstars are we looking for? I just looked on CL and found a couple of different specimens I could pick up for around $300 (one had a bad tranny, the one other was an unspecified "non-working") My wife will generally be amenable to parting out a vehicle as long as I can break even or better. Seems like $300 should be do-able? Probably better to hunt around a junk yard for the fans, but I kind of enjoy parting out rigs, who knows maybe I could make a buck or two and get some e-fans to boot.

Heres another one of mine-an RF24 T-Bird dual speed fan mounted inside the stock 73-80 SB shroud. These fit 81-up SB shrouds too!
