Serpentine setup 85 454

Anybody have any information on what all I need? Gonna head to the local pick n pull this weekend and if I can grab what I need I'll e a happy camper! Appreciate the input!

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think the Mark V serpentine belt setup will fit on a Mark IV big block.

But 1988-90 is the Marv IV and 1991+ is the Mark V.

You will of course, need the brackets. Your current A/C compressor will not fit (if so equipped). I doubt you can use your current PS pump though the pulley is easy enough to change. Alternator will not work either, you will need to get a newer style along with the corresponding connector.

Politically correct, it's GenV not Mark V. FoMoCo(Ford Motor Co) owns the Mark V for the Lincolns.

Yep, just look for a TBI motor with the older valve covers. Don't be shocked if you don't find it though. I've NEVER seen a BBC 454 from any vehicle make it to the Pull A Part lot. Usually if one comes in, an employee is all over it and it's pulled before even put out for customers.

WTFever, always been Mark IV and Mark V for me.

Anyhow, every time I go to wrench-a-part there's at least 1 454, usually 3 or 4.

One option is to get a Kwik Performance adapter kit and use the super common small block serpentine set up. The adapter kit is about $150 so it's not the cheapest option but its nice, clean and compact.

I will have to do some more research it looks like they make a couple bracket kits to accomplish this. Was hoping it would just bolt up. Thanks for the input

Anyone know for certain, if someone was to do this swap, on both either SBC or BBC, wouldn't you have to replace the water pump for the reverse rotation water pump or am I getting confused??? Pretty sure the SBC you do, but what about BBC?

Curious, are they better then the 80's model year pumps? Just like the heater blower motors?

Not really sure they just spin differently. That's why I need that one. Heater motor is on my list too!

I doubt it. As it is, he'd be stepping up from an 80's pump to a 90's pump anyway. The way to tell, would be to look up a water pump for 91-95 TBI motor, then look up 96-98 SFI Vortec motor and see if they have the same part #. If they are different, then find out why. After that, LS motors came about and the water pump won't bolt on at all. Totally different.
