I've got the front fender badges they cut off of the truck when painting it I want to reinstall. The nubs are barely there but they are enough to fit snug with the black backing that separates the badge from the paint.

I bought 3m super strength molding tape that is 7/8th inch wide and fairly low profile, but not no profile for sure.

I was wondering if it would be better to just use the 3m tape since the badge would be slightly separated from the body (which is what it looks like the black strip is there for), or if it would be better to 3m tape the badge back on to the black strip itself and then 3m tape the strip to the body, if that makes sense.

I thought about sealing the entire edge of the badge with tape but I think that would be overkill.

Badge directly to tape; tape directly to vehicle paint.

Make sure and clean the areas with alcohol or wax cleaner.

Thanks that worked out better than I expected. The 3m tape was the perfect width to seal against both surfaces but allowing the smallest amount of clearance imaginable so that the badge edges don't touch the body anywhere. Thanks!

That gap is acceptable. Turned out good!
