I'd like to add rear heat to my 84 burban. I've got the factory housing and core but would like to see where it's supposed to go. Also would like to see the switch for it and where that is mounted on the dash. Thanks!

Thank you. Does anyone have pictures of their truck with rear a/c? What controls the diverter valve. Looks like the kit on ebay just has a fan speed switch but nothing to open or close the valve to the rear heat. Thanks!

I just have rear ac no rear heat I just have a switch by the ash tray with a hi and low speed. The housing just goes all the way to the rear near the window or barn doors

Yeah my truck has rear a/c too. The switch up front has a spot for another switch it looks like and was wondering if the rear heat goes there. I'll end up customizing it because all I have is the housing for the rear and that's it. But I just wanted to see how the factory did it.

The factory actually did it two ways. The factory-installed rear heat has a 2-speed switch mounted in the same style panels as the rear AC, defog, etc. But the rear heater kit that was sold by GM has a 3-speed switch (the knob looks similar to the knobs of the HVAC controller) that mounts in a different location on the dash.

A have a new rear heat kit that I've never installed, if I get a chance, I can scan in the installation instructions.

The factory diverter valve is controlled by vacuum.

Yes. AC was up top and heat was a unit on the floor.

Man, sorry, just parted out a '90 burb with rear heat but didn't take pics. I kept everything though, in case I ever want to put it in my '91. I can take pics of parts if you need em, not sure that will help or not. Mine was the kind that had the switch on the dash in the same location as rear a/c, rear defog, etc. It had all four options that required a switch: electric tailgate window, rear a/c, rear heat and rear defog. Double switch panels on each side of the ashtray.

Thanks. I have the other three options and the open space I have I bet was for the rear heat. I guess I'll try to find a switch so it'll look factory the. I can mount the heater where I like and runs lines how I like.

I noticed this the other day - maybe he has the HVAC stuff too:

Interior Trim, door panels, "Captains Chairs", center console, folding seats etc.

Chevrolet / GMC pickups, turcks SUVs.

I am selling a complete interior out of a 1986 Chevrolet Suburban and some odds and ends that can be used for a variety of "Square Body" Chevrolet & GMC trucks from 1973 -to- 1991 including the C/K series pickups, Blazer, Jimmy & Suburban.

Color: Navy Blue

Material: Cloth (aluminum, stainless steel & plastic)

Condition: Good to Fair

Price: call and make an offer.

I'll take $600 for EVERYTHING for we can negotiate for individual items.
