Morning! I'm replacing the back half of the headliner on my suburban and finally received the new material. I purchased one 18oz. can of 3M 38808 headliner adhesive. Is one can enough to do the back half or should I have a second can on hand?

One can should be good. I did an entire amc eagle wagon headliner with one can and it turned out great. Good luck! Maybe feed us a pic once it's done

Edit: For some reason I was thinking you were doing a pickup. It may be a close call, but I believe you can do it with one can. If it's not a huge inconvenience, I would get another can just in case and return it if not used.
If you decide to do it with one can, I think you'll be fine if you do it evenly. It doesn't need a whole lot, just nice and even.

I would have two cans just in case. If you don't use it take it back. When I did the headliner in my truck, I used almost the whole can. You should spray both pieces of the headliner, what I mean is the board, and the material, and a heavy coat, so it don't sag, so in a couple of years your not doing it again.

Good luck! I have a headliner sitting on my back porch, waiting to be recovered. One of these days...

Looks good! How many cans of adhesive did you end up using?

Is it just the pic or is your backer board drooping like mine is? Mine droops so much that it pulls out from behind the metal trim strip above the second row seat. I want to add another one of those trim strips further back to support the headliner better.

One can was barely enough, but got the job done. The board does seem to sag a little and I tried to push the board up tight before I tightened the screws, but it is what it is. My garage is my man cave and over time has turned into a hangout for the older kids. Thanks for all the interest and help along the way.

The truck never came with a spare tire cover so my wife made me one with extra material she had to finish off my project. I'm so proud to open those barn doors now.

Nice job! Makes it look so much better, doesn't it? Was it a pain to hold up while putting it back in? I know when I did my amc eagle, it was a PITA to hold the headliner up and instal it by myself without messing it up. I'd recommend anyone that has an old headliner to do this. It's not as hard as it may seem, I did mine in an evening. It greatly improves the look.
