Anyone have a electric choke that they can show the backside of it. I need confirmation if my electric choke is proper or not as its labelled a 1705 but I'm using a 1708 carb.

Thanks

Here's a 1708 style that I recently got off ebay.

It is claimed to be NOS. Well almost NOS. Other one attempt to start an engine - that turned out to have way bigger problems - has never been touched.

The guy said it had only been used for less than a day - to try and start the engine. Gambled and bid it for $100. I won!

The thing is frickin' awesome:

FWIW - I never adjusted the choke heater. What you see is exactly where it came from Rochester. Starts the truck (with a single pump of the accelerator) at 0 degrees. And it also starts the truck at 70 degrees. Fast idle comes right down after about 2 minutes and the slightest tap drops it to curb idle.

I don't know if they'll help, but here are some more images:

Interesting its using the hot air coke. Yeah I'm nto able to get the choke to work properly and that is where I am trying to diagnose what is wrong.

Its the leveres behind the choke housing I need pics off. Maybe I need to look into the hot air choke I have but would rather use the electric.

Both of those have hot air choke "housings". It was sealed off hopefully to allow them to function properly. That is what that little round part off the right side is.

Oh yeah I know. I am familiar - as I'm sure you are - with the divorced/hot air choke set up. Also, we both can see that the carbs above have the inlet nipples plugged.

That's why I was wondering what you meant when you said - in post #3:

It should work for you if you get the choke coil placed correctly to your choke arm so it will engage. Make sure it is sealed off so you don't have vacuum leak and don't use the gasket. Choke coil needs to ground itself to the body.

Its the whole choke coil placed properly on the choke arm to engage that I'm trying to figure out. I have the documentation on it and such but it is the engagement of the arms when its assembled I'm trying to figure out.

It has a new seal as it was put during the rebuild.

Do you have the split choke arm, or solid? If it is split, then the coil should go in the split. I will try to remember to look in the shop tomorrow for some pictures.

Split choke arm? Speak english man!!!

My choke has 4 main parts.
1) Choke coil
2) Choke Housing
3) Intermediate Choke Lever
4) Fast Idle Cam

All of these pieces come apart into 4 seperate pieces.
