I know some aftermarket kits come with in hat parking brakes I'm hoping the 1999-02 truck rear ends with disc brakes do instead of like the Cadillac calipers they some times use on the 14 bolt disc conversions.

JMO, I think in hat park brakes kind of take away one of the advantages of having disk brakes. You get alot of mud or dirt build up in the hat, then you're going to have the shoes dragging when the brake isn't being applied.

They are covered and have a plug to remove when adjusting them. Now if you go mudding then all bets are off. How ever I left the plug out on my charger and went for a drive in the rain....all was well but I had to apply the parking break and let it roll to knock the water off the pads.

there really isn't anywhere to go about mudding near where I live so that isn't a problem.
