Was doing some work on my 89 k5 and noticed that there was a wire cut going into the tailgate. However I am unaware of what said wire does.

It is a orange wire with a black tracker. I know its not for the window as that worked fine.

It may be. I would not know since the po was too cheap to rekey it when he replaced the locks.

The more I work on it the more hillbilly crap I find. I have a laundry list of things I need to fix

I don't doubt it. There was a ton of that kinda crap I had to correct on mine too. The wiring was ok but the PO's body work and other "fixes" left a LOT to be desired
