Lost the ball joints in my 10 bolt, it's in my 86 k20 that I am running 37's on. Want to upgrade to a Dana 60 king pin, but having no luck finding one in my area, so rebuilding my 10 bolt to get me by for now, then once I find a Dana 60 will swap the 10 bolt to my 82 K20 plow truck.
I was looking at kits on ebay and ran across this 8.5" 10 bolt 28 spline 4.10 kit with a Powertrax posi. Anyone ran one of these before? My current 10 is open diff. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251919486697?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

That gasket pictured won't work for the front rear but not a huge deal. I have an Eaton in my front 10 bolt but it's 30 spline.

Pump the brakes a little. PowerTraxx by Richmond Gear is fairly good stuff. @skysurfer uses this one in his front axle which is a 10 bolt. This is a spider gear replacement system rather than replace your whole carrier and reset up your gears and all, just install this in your current open carrier. It should be cheaper in the long run. I just wonder how well it'll hold up to 37in tires. Just hate to see you spend a butt load of cash for a temporary situation if you're going to go with a Dana 60 in the near future. I damn sure wish you were closer to OKC, OK. I need 8 lugs backing plates, hubs and rotors to convert my 6 lug K10 to 8 lug K20.

There is also the Lock Right which is a more aggressive noisy locker.

What is pictured is not actual kit (hate when ebayers do that, I want to see what I am actually getting). The reason I was thinking of this was that my outer pinon bearing had side to side slop in it when you grabbed the yoke, carrier bearings are still good and gears look good...everything is original though, so no clue how much life left in them. I really only need to do the pinon bearings, but since the basic kits I've found come with bearings, ring and pinion for around $170, thought I would go through the whole mess since I have it down. I know this 10 bolt won't last with the 37's, was hoping to just get it till winter, hopefully can find a 60 by then.
What I have in my truck is a 10 bolt and it's 28 spline, it should be an 8.5" ring gear correct?
