Getting my truck painted at a local shop and they say the paint is reacting with the spray paint that was on the truck. They sanded about 90% of the spray paint off before the used a sealer. Then they sprayed a base coat/clear coat and it reacted. Then they sanded that down and went back with a single stage and the same problem. Any ideas what is going on?

A lot of times a real paint will not stick to spray paint and the spray paint needs to be completely removed as in if need be sanded to bare metal.

if it's doing that still in bare metal spots it's something on their end.

dirt, paints not mixing etc.

paint doesn't like spray paint and it definately should be completely removed anytime a real paint job is done.

In the "Old Days" of painting.a enamel can be put over a laquer but a laquer can not be sprayed over an enamel,Spider web looking reaction happens.
I do know that when spraying epoxy over anything will cause bad reactions.
I too have run into problems such as this and it takes a lot of time and patience to get a nice outcome.

Bedliner is a good look for some trucks, best part is you don't need to wax it and no worries about scratches. Also helps keep idiots in parking lots from parking to close, "hit me with your door, I dare ya"
