I have a 1985 k20 suburban. Just recently got a new motor for it. Still stayed with the 350 but put in a newer version with a roller cam. I'm noticing some oil on the water pump, alternator and also on the air cleaner. I been trying to see where it is coming from. It isn't leaking on the ground. It happens when I'm driving. Any ideas please let me know thanks

A place to look, engine oil cooler in front of the radiator. Trans cooler in the radiator. Sounds like maybe oil blowing back on the front of the engine.

Look for oil stripes on the fender wells and bottom side of the hood. If you have stripes the oil is being slung, either by the fan or the harmonic balancer. I'd check the front crank seal real good.

Distributor gasket.

It has one...right? You put it there?
Yes it has one. But the is in front of the motor and the distributor is in the back of the motor. I been looking at the intake manifold end seals also.

Isn't there a dye and black light that can be used?

There is a hole on the bottom of the block next to your oil pan below the fuel pump. Any ideas what this could be.

I did a search and found leak detection dye. GM even makes it! Found it on Amazon. Dye glasses and UV light for $28.00 and I can use the light to hunt for scorpions in the summer

I have a U.V. dye kit . I almost never need it clean everything real good and check for your leak daily. Use a flashlight. The U.V. dye makes the oil easier to see, but your still going to see U.V. dyed oil everywhere.
