Also interested in a replacement chain, as I have a rebuild planned in the near future. However, when I was looking for parts, the only ones I found were overpriced takeouts.

Milemarker used to also sell a chainsaver kit, which was used to take the slack out of a stretched chain. However, I don’t know exactly how it worked, and it’s disappeared from all the parts catalogs online.

Yes, no longer available as far as I know. It was a spring loaded rubbing block.

Does Milemarker still exist as a company ? They used to sell a shaft replacement conversion for the NP203 transfer case to change from full to part time ( later sold to Doug Nash, or vice versa ). I have not been able to find them for a few years now - anyone got any other info ? ...

Milemarker still exists but the NP203 shaft conversion and many other parts are out of production.

I had 3 sites saved that had 203 parts. None of them sell the chains now.

I've had several 203's thru the years & do appreciate the lower range over the 205. We just swapped the trans/case in my 76 with a used unit from a 75. It is difficult to shift & must have front hubs locked to drive. It makes noise in park/neutral like trying to run a PTO.
Being the 76 case is good & 75 tranny is good I believe that I'll swap that back over because that case actually shifted smooth & was quiet. If I had a driveshaft for 205 then I'd swap it definitely.

I went through all of this when I started the rebuild of my truck almost two years ago.
There aren't any 203 chains in stock anywhere, and any of the companies that can manufacture the chain aren't going to, as there is no demand for them.
The NP208 will require driveshaft changes, but it's a much better option in the long run in my opinion.
