Hey how about some roll-on bedliner on your stock step bumper? Does it have diamond plate on top, like most? If so the bedliner might be the slick trick!

Or grip tape?

Both good ideas. I don't know if he has any left, but I had a buddy selling rolls of the grip tape for commercial floors. It was like 6in wide and on a roll of 50ft. That would be good if it stuck to the top of the bumper. I do hate slipping off a wet bumper. It hurts like hell to **** up your shins.

Aren't the frame widths different between the squares and the GMT900? Might have to fabricate brackets to make up the difference.

Yep,. and GMT400 and later for that matter. This was done to make room for the fuel tank inside the frame rails instead of outside.

Whatever bumper I put on I was planning on fabricating new brackets. After 10 years as a die maker, and now 3 years as a CNC operator/programmer, that would be the most fun part for me! And of course whatever brackets I would come up with would be drawn and available for anyone else who would want to do the same thing.

Still have not found pictures of swaps online yet. Must not be looking or searching for the right thing.

Thanks for posting James. Looks pretty good. Anyway to get a few shots underneath to see the mounting. Obviously there should be some bracket or spacer work to make it fit huh??? :High 5:

Thanks again James. Doesn't look as if it was to hard at all.

Looks like it's an aftermarket replacement bumper. They have those universal mounting points and you just buy the bracket kit to fit your truck. So if aftermarket, the GMT 400 style bumper is a bolt-on deal, even for a square body. I've seen several of them around here in the last few years.

No hurry! I checked out your intro thread, but didn't quite get good enough pics to really see how it all ties in to the whole truck.
