Hello all! I'm new here too. Recently got me an 85 k1500 that I'm building up with my roommate. Still in the first stages of getting the truck smogged and registered since it's been non-op for almost a decade!Trying to bring some new life to the old girl one step at a time. Hoping to get some good use out of this site!!

Welcome. As you are getting your truck ready for smog, be aware that after 1/1/85 emissions may different than trucks built prior to that. My K30 was built 11/84 and has smog equipment (single smog pump) based on 1984 standards. I know on post 1/1/85 big block trucks, GM went to dual smog pumps and stainless factory exhaust manifolds, etc. Just a heads up for when you're looking for parts.

Am I understanding this statement??? California requires a 30 plus year old vehicle to meet smog requirements???

From my understanding, if it came with any smog equipment, then that equipment must be in place and functional.

That is correct, one piece not right and it's an automatic fail..
