Hi Guys, I just bought me a 78 k10 stepside for $1800. Runs and drives fine just needs some TLC. It has a 350 and np203 t-case. Can I replace the auto locking hubs with manual hubs? I have heard that I would need to buy the part time kit to do so. Anyone know? Let me know what ya'll think about it, oh and my main mechanic helping me out a little under the hood :waytogo:

:welcome: from N.E. Texas!

Good helper you have there. I swapped my auto hubs with manual hubs, all I did was buy the M/M (Mile Marker) kit, and followed the instructions.

Welcome to the forum.
NO, do not run manual hubs on that 203, there is a set of spider gears in there and it will eat the babbit spacer washers down to nothing, it gets worse from there.
Install the part time kit in the T-case and it`ll be good to go then.
Does it have a TH 400 transmission ahead of the NP203 ??? You can install a NP 205 but be sure it has the adapter for which ever Transmission You have.
I first hand, know about how using part time hubs on that NP 203 T-Case and how it will take out the spiders.
I like that winch, Is it a Belleview 6,000 pounder ??? Front bumper looks good too.
I have a Belleview 6,000 winch mounted behind the cab of My 59 Power Wagon, mainly use it to run the gin poles.

Thanks for the welcome guys! It is a th350 transmission. I guess I will stick to the auto hubs then. I'm not exactly sure what the winch is, I haven't checked it out too much cause the motor for it is behind my seat needing to be rebuilt!

Might just need a good cleaning and a lube job. Those are good winches and in some places highly sought after.
Remove the side cover and flush it out, change the oil and it should last a very long time.
I drilled a hole in the bottom of Mine, tapped it for a 1/8th inch pipe plug, so I can drain it and change the oil annually.
Here`s a price on a motor. Made by Prestolite.
