Update: found a 700R4 out of an 88 square, going to check it out today, 600 bucks, ouch, but they are hard to find around here. Guy said it worked good, so Slap it in and see......Looks like I need to sell the R4 4X4 with the 208 transfer case.

Damn you Ricko, right again…. That four wheel drive trans is just to much trouble, but I have a friend now in the auto recycling biz, has a two wheel r4. Wanted 725, got him down too 600, showed up with the truck, sold it to me for 500. Just a kid but has three squares, all he drives so hallelujah. Got it mostly cleaned up yesterday. I will order parts soon, complete rebuild, oh yeah, had the low stall torque converter as well. My plan is replace all the bushings, go through the pump, rollerize etc. watched Nick’s video again, got a book etc. busy in the shop. This will be my second auto rebuild, 1st was my 350, put it behind the 454, and proceeded to thrash it every time I drove the truck, and it worked super good. Overdrive in the diesel will make so much difference. Always open to suggestions.

Do you need the TV cable to IP adapter and bracket? I believe in my stash of parts that I still have one.

Well Aasleson, I have an original bracket for the diesel, with the TH400. Ricko and others have said I will have to fab up something, and there are some pics in prior posts. The new transmission does have a cable on it, and was out of a square. I was going to fab up a bracket, but if you have the right stuff for a diesel with a r4 trans then yes, I am interested. The bracket bolts to the back of the intake and has the spot for the cable to clip in and connects the TV cable to the injection pump

Also buying a ATSG 700r4 book. I did my 350, took awhile, but it was awesome behind the 454, when stock it broke.

Is there anything else I should buy? Yes this will be in the diesel truck
When I built the 350, I did put in a 4l60e center section, The HD Borg Warner 32 element sprag, Beast sunshell and one piece sun gear. I really don't think I need those as this is not a tyre fryer.

Got the fuel leak fixed, Yes I did have to lift the bed, made a lift out of wood that fit in the stake pocket, used a long eye bolt that goes through and washer and bolt on bottom. Took all the nuts off the bed bolts, (never seized when I originally did this), came off easy, then used the lift on the tractor to pick it up. Don't know why, but both hoses had loose clamps? anyway no leaks.

Also did rear brake, had to buy new everything as wheel cyl were leaking, I gotta say I hate rear brakes, lost parts, had to go to town twice, a long drive for me, but got it together. Now the brake light is on and won't go off. Tried all the fixes in the book, tried some Ricko fixes, still have the brake light. On gravel, fronts skid, nothing in back, so it's the proportioning valve. So did the button push, bled the brakes now like four times, worked for hours and still have the light on. Dang...Shuttle not centered, did not want to get into that, but that looks like the next job. I did haul five tons of gravel in the trailer, but it is not right. Fix it Craig!!

Pump the brake pedal hard and fast 3 pumps and hold,have someone lose enough the right front brake bleeder. Have them tighten it then let up the pedal see if the light is off. Try again if not,try again. If no luck move to right rear,but right front usually does it. You did check that the Ebrake isn't down a click?

No helper today, and town tomorrow Ricko, but I will give that a try, Fluid need changing anyway. Jan got home, so we tried that, Didn't work at first, as I told her to leave the pedal ststionary after it was hard. Next I did as Ricko said, but this time had Jan push it to the floor. It worked the light did go off, but still no back brakes. Towing 14,000 lbs of gravel, the load height sensor on the back kept applying the brakes, bouncing the trailer. I let most of the air out of the air bags, and that seemed to stop that. I will have Jan help again today and bleed the brakes again.

I think the brakes are good. I gravity bled both the rears until I got new clean fluid. Had to vacuum the fronts, but now the brake peddle is hard, and she stops on a dime. Best brakes of all the squares I have owned. Thank God! Now Jan and I are headed to Cali to buy a new truck for her, as we want a 4X4. Going to sell Lil' Red and the Cali Sun bug, (Yes!). Road trip if it all works out with the PO.

Left Sat at noon, made it to Shasta in Jans OBS truck, but stopped by storms down there, so stop and tried to sleep in the back with two dogs. Yeah, you can imagine...Up at four, made it to Plesantation by 10AM. Beautiful looking truck, but mechanically it was terrable. Bad brakes, bad transmission, engine had no power, leaking from transfer, trans, rear end and engine. He took off $3400, but we passed. Left at noon, made it N of Bend Ore last night. Few hours sleep and off at 2:00 this morning, and made it home at 7:00. Home sweet home. Jans 91 was a champ, so much so, we are keeping it. Runs strong, great trans, and looks prettry good. It is two wheel drive and we get snow where we live, but we're gonna put some good tires and some weight in the back. Only mishap was the camper shell sliding window shattered, bugger, so on the hunt to replace it. I am VERY impressed with these tricks

Drive the truck today. and brakes are excellent, so thanks everyone that helped, and especially Ricko, as post 190 got me going. I did gravity bleed the rears until I got nice clean fluid, and vacuumned the fronts, and fantastic! Also found a Century topper for the truck today, only 10 miles from the house, so grateful. I will paint it the same color as the truck, and needs some cleaning, so the three year search for a good fitting topper is over. Dogs in the back, boat hitched and down to the Klic to catch some springers, sounds like a plan.
