Read this.
For now run a pvc valve for a 400 sbc with a 4bbl
Just out of curiosity why for a 400 sbc instead of a regular one for a 350? Is it because my motor is now higher displacement?

They may actually be the same valve, but if not 383 is closer to 400 than it is to 350. The link I told you to read, in that they discuss an adjustable pcv valve and where to get it. In the meantime 400 sbc is better than nothing also picked 400 because it will probably be easier to find than a 396.

Wasn't able to post this weekend but I tossed on a pcv valve, cleared 90% of smoke up. Then found it have a massive vacuum leak from the intake manifold gasket even though I have almost 20 in of vacuum at 800ish rpm!! Gonna replace the gasket today with a hopefully better fitting one, other one was way too big, probably sucking oil from valley.

Ok, popped off the intake and the gasket gasket was very oily, I replaced it with a new composite edlebrock and it seemed to fit a bit better, I put a nice coating of rtv around both sides of the intske gasket and just to be safe since they are very similar and I dont want this to happen again, I put a light coat of indian head sealer on both sides of the intake gasket only around the intake ports, I haven't tested it yet but hopefully tomorrow I will. Seemed like every port was leaking aggressively, which is why to be safe I used the IHGS, some guys recommended rtv around intake ports to me but I dont think that would hold up well to gas.

Utra grey is the only RTV I use is gas and oil resistant. 1/4 thick bead on China walls, toss the rubber/cork gaskets, very thin smear of RTV around water jackets, reassemble after it sits for 10-15 minutes.

I used the right stuff Grey on the China walls and around water jackets, its the faster setting stuff, then for extra safety I put the shellac sealer around the intake ports

Just drove it today, still putting out smoke under acceleration and after that when idling, after 3 passes the smoking was much less than the first. The symptoms of the vacuum leak are gone, it does hesitate or bog or die when I hit the gas and it feels very torquey, but despite the torque it doesnt move very fast, under hard acceleration it moved probably the same as my stock tbi blazer would, which this motor should have double the power. Any ideas why its still smoking?
