My sister's 2008 Chevy Cobalt power steering took a **** when she got to work. I told her to check fluid and make sure belt didn't get thrown, now I just did a quick search and it's electric power steering???? Anybody know about these vehicles?

Have here run her VIN on the GM owners site. If that recall has not been done, let them do it on their dime.

Got a link dude? Google has a **** ton of different ones. If this is indeed electric it is out of my league.

Ok, got a hold of the dealer. YES, THESE VEHICLES HAVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. :shitsweak:

YES, there has been a recall. Yes it will be replaced for free. :waytogo:

When unit starts to go, it over heats when steering in under heavy stress, such as slowly turning into a parking spot. Steering at a stop or low speed. The unit should cool off and start working again and be drivable, now knowing what conditions will cause it to malfunction. We will be taking the car in to have the part replaced Saturday, 1 hour wait.

Yeah, almost all new vehicles these days have electric power steering...Kind of scary, really.

My mother in law's V6 Malibu has the electric steering, it's dangerous. Every once in a while, the steering will momentarily lock (yeah, lock) while going around a corner. It will also do it sometimes on the highway if you gas it hard and go for a lane change. Apparently the Malibu SS had regular power steering.
