Looks like you have a set of mis-matched heads...Did you compare the part numbers?

Looks like the driver's side head is single notch and passenger side is 2-step...

attachment.php

Notch = 3932441, 3970126, 3998920
2-step = 3951598, 3998993, 3998997, 3973487, 14022601

If they don't match you may be way ahead of the game going with Vortec heads. I also attached a text file (see below) with a list of head casting numbers if you wanted to pop the valve covers off and see what they each are from.

I guess I never realized there was different casting marks on heads. I always take a valve cover off and get the number.

What exactly are we looking at for the casting mark? I can't see anything on his heads that looks like the pictures. :confused:

both heads are comfirmed 997 heads that have been ported and have had 2.02/1.60 valves put in. i have run across this with the 305 that was in it originally it had 76cc chambers on the driver and 58cc chambers on the passenger that motor took a dump on me about 5 months ago so bought these heads brand new. and they are a matched set and are not stock heads either im going to reuse these head on my 383 stroker im building

if you look on the front of the driver head and the back of the passenger head you will see that both are the same.

nope no notch sticking up on back of the PS head, the ds front has a notch in between the big hills so to speak. or am I looking at the wrong part? I usually go by what's in th emiddle of the taller humps.

Anyways I'll bite, what's so mean about this?

2.02 mean nothing, we have a set of those on a 350 and it runs like poop due to the rear end in the truck.

well its gotta lightweight forged SCAT crank SCAT Rods, Full Floating -10.00cc Dome pistons. which makes 10.05 to 1 compression with the head gaskets im using, it has a Energizer Cam and Lifter set from Crane grind number 302 H06, if you dont know the grind number it has a valve lift of .50" lift on intake and exhaust at .050 and the duration is 246 a .050, lobe separation is 106. so that 2.02/1.60 means something oh its got header and magnaflow glasspack no cats straight threw exhaust which really isnt that big of deal but yeah i wouldnt judge a book by its cover

well i have them ported to 190cc intake and 90cc exhaust with 2.02/1.60 valves, this is what my machine shop recommended me to do. so from my understanding they are much better than vortec heads now, and i took the cheap intake and had the runners in large to get close to what my heads are but i didn't wanna waist too much money in this 350 because i knew i was gonna be turning around and building a 383 stroker and going way bigger so im really dumping money in it now. but this 350 is no slouch..lol it shelled a brand new 700R transmission in 2 days and that was my dumb fault i was pissed and i was dogging it hard one day and the it came unhitched lol but those heads are a matching set i don't know why the markings are showing the same but the numbers are the same. they were intended for a 400 the guy lost interest in it and i bought the whole lot for $200 bucks all brand new block, heads, crank, and set of rods and pistons so i know what i bought lol its prolly not the best but its still very mean

If they're 400 heads they are probably 76-80cc heads, not sure if you'll get 10.5:1 CR out of them. I would like to see the casting numbers if you take the valve covers off sometime.

they are in fact 76cc with keith black "dome" pistons from doing the calculations for compression ratio with the head gaskets im using im getting 10.05:1 not 10.5 i chose to use dome style with 2 valve reliefs pistons to make up for the large chambers
