This sounds sooooo much like magnets that came loose and are sand bagging the armature. I'm itching to pull one of these motors apart.

If you want I could probably send you a crapped out reman unit we use to have a few hanging around the shop from before we started buying the new WIA units. If your interested let me know and I'll check.
