Modified transfer case question 83 K10

A friend of my dad’s started a frame off build 20+ years ago on an 1983 K10 and he’s 82 with a broken hip and can’t finish up the project.
I bought it along with tons of parts for it and will finish it in his honor!
I don’t have the truck home yet, but took many pictures of it the night that I bought it.
Engine is a 400, trans is a 4L80E, transfer case is a ? Not sure yet what it is.
My question is, have any of you seen a modification like this done to a transfer case and what are your thoughts?
It has a welded on portion to the backside of the case and an AN fitting line going back to the top as seen in the 1st picture. I’m not sure what that’s there for?
I will get the truck and parts home soon and make a master list of what I have.
He said that all I need to finish it is a back window and a front bumper.
I’m just a bit excited as this is one nice truck!

Look at that round tag in the center of the rear side of the tcase body, this will identify the model of the tcase (ie; 208, 241, etc).

Thanks nvrenuf, that makes total sense and a good way to check the fluid level.
Thanks for the tag info, I plan on documenting everything I can when I get it home.

Notice the support rod? There's not the typical mounting provisions for a support rod.

Maybe a flipped 263 or whichever one has the internal pump? The AN line is needed to transfer the pressurized fluid?

@Michigan K10 whats on the tag? Doesnt look like my 241 in my 91. It does kind of look like a flipped over version of my drivers drop 241 that was bolted behind a 4l80 in a GMT 400.

Its definitely had some work done. You've got my interest peaked.

We don't know that yet. It may be a pressure line.

That’s an excellent theory! I saw the rod and wondered about the fact I didn’t see the mounting pad on the side of the tcase but I figured it might be some 241 voodoo (I’m not very familiar with them). A flipped case and an oil pump hose would be some pretty cool home brew mods.

I don’t think the 241’s we have laying around have a 2 piece tail shaft housing like that. I could be wrong though

241Cs and 241DLD and the early 241DHD (Dodge light & heavy duty) have a two piece tail housing. I'd assume it's a C variant as the speed sensor in the ext housing doesn't match the Dodge setup.

241s do have an oil pump in them.

The oil pickup on the 241s is where the drain plug is, so id guess the AN line is to feed the pump from what is now the bottom.

The pickup is 180⁰ in this picture, it sits under that tab in the case.
