FWIW the pull type slave is not rocket science, I've seen the rear mount as crude as a piece of chain attached to the slave and the chain bolted to something solid. Usually the frame, not how I'd do it,but it has been done. Attached to the floor, the frame,a crossmember.

Seems like unless your engine is built to make 500 HP, the difference between headers and aftermarket manifolds would be negligible. You could sell your headers and probably come out close to even, your slave would fit, and you wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. Just my $.02.

I call B.S. on headers only being good on big horsepower or at high rpms. I'm putting up 2 pics of dyno tests, both these had some of the best factory exhaust manifolds available. 1 was a stone stock 350 2bbl other than Corvette tubular rams horns. The other engine also had some of the best factory manifolds available 2.5 inch rams horns. These differences would have been even bigger, had they had factory 2.25 inch log manifolds. The zz3 engine loses like 30hp( I forget the exact number I think it was actually bigger) running factory manifolds vs dyno headers. As part of the HP. packages on factory engines, they got better exhaust manifolds. FYI There's a 10 hp difference between an lt1 Corvette and an LT 1 Camaro same engine only difference I'm aware of was Corvette had rams horns manifolds.
