Really like this paint scheme. Wife hates the red stripe.....I get it, but am used to it. Maybe can find a different color stripe to use - dunno. I think the dark is either blue or black - but the middle I am having a hard time finding. Not really gold - kind of a pewter? Just wondering if it looks familiar. Not even sure what year.....think these are 87's.

The 3 tone truck is sexy too. Think I've identified the colors.....just wasn't aware they made an actual 3 tone paint scheme.

I've got the SPID for this one saved somewhere. It has the gray color you are looking for.

That first truck you posted is very dark blue. The others are black. Imho, the red/black stripe really sets it off.

Edit, I think that dually is very dark blue too.

I was gonna say, looks like the same grey as my burban. Usually that color combo was black. I've seen quite a few of these paint schemes, red stripe and all. I've always liked em.

Looked at that site before - but cant find or place that goldish side color. At one time I thought it was lighting or where the truck was sitting in the pic....but with other pics, think its a petwer-gold and cant find it anywhere. Love the paint scheme but that 3 tone (is that factory?) is awesome too.

The top one has a pewter inset (not gold).

That "3 tone" shown here was not a factory option.

That dually almost looks bronze like. Really sharp. Wondering now if that was a custom color.

Here's my '87 GMC K2500 from 1989. Stripe was red and gray. The blue was non-metallic and I believe the gray was the same as my gray/silver '79 K15. The dark gray was #18. Vastine's Paint Garage in Texas offers the stripe kits in a variety of colors.

Man, thats sharp. You seem to have had quite a few nice ones.

Do those stripe kits come with the 90 for the front?

Thanks for the complement. Yes they come with the 90 bend. I have a magazine with this truck displaying one of their stripe kits. Photo 2 is a variety of their colors.

@C10MixMaster,
Thanks for the paint web site. I found it to be very interesting. When we were trying to pick a paint out for my rebuilt truck I thought, "Well, I'll just go back to the factory colors and see what comes up.". I was sent to a parts store that had the book of all those old factory colors. There was a Midnight Blue Metallic. So we took the coupon outside to take a look at it in the sun. It was real dark blue. I loved it. We took the code to the paint store to have it mixed up, we just got a pint to test. We used the hood as our test piece and when we sprayed it it was this medium blue heavy metallic. It looked like a Bass boat!! We freaked. So we went back to the paint store to find out what happen. The guy said that over the years GM had changed the codes and that was what that code turned out looking like.

Needless to say we modified it over and over until it was what we wanted. I'm telling you that other metallic looked like glitter it was so heavy, ha, ha, ha,. We used a aluminum powder for our metallic and people really liked the way it turned out. We renamed it "Cobalt Blue Metallic" It has no Red, Yellow or Green in it to keep it from turning Purple in the sun.

@Craig85,

I like your truck shown. I think those colors go together really well, as the others above do to. It looks....manly.

It became more manly after a few months of ownership.
