I don't want to do anything drastic right away. I just applied for a job from where I grew up, so I may need to move in the near future. I will post some pictures of the undercarriage, interior, and under the hood once I get it. I have fenders to put on if I need to, to fix the rust, but they're those thing LMC truck fenders. I have factory spares too if I need some heavier metal to patch them. I doubt the overdrive is factory too, in all my Factory Shop Manuals I have never seen an overdrive unit mentioned in them. I like the way it's mounted, and if it is reliable I will leave it be and enjoy the better highway rpm's. I think it could be used as a gear splitter too if there was a need for a gear between 2nd and 3rd going up a steep grade. I'm sure 2nd would suffice but may wind up a lot. I have never driven one with a regular 3 speed, so I am not sure if the ratios are similar to an sm420, just without the granny low. I will look them up in my books and see what they are.

I sent him a text last night after work letting him know I was keeping my word by checking in when I was going to get more cash and that I was still interested. He responded back saying that was okay and he was pulling the ad. I checked this morning and he did pull the ad. So Thursday night I will go get it unless I can somehow get the remaining $cash today.

When I get it would it be easier to change the name of this thread and clean it up, or should I just start a new one?

Yes I did! It's nice to have some old iron again, but man it is a bitch to drive. The clutch doesn't engage until there is about 2 inches left in the travel, and the edelbrok carburetor has massive hesitation. Once you get moving it's not so bad. But trying to finesse it at slow speeds it's not letting it happen.

Are edelbroks prone to going out of tune easily? It purred like a kitten at his house and ran decent on test drive and to the restaurant for dinner. But after dinner it started loading up, running rich, spitting and sputtering at idle after about 2 miles. It may be bad gas, or the carb needs adjusting, who knows until I look at it. I have a can of berrymans b12 I can dump in the tank since it's a full tank. I need to locate my handles from my old 65, because these handles don't lock. And I want to change the lock cylinder too and swap in my HEI distributor. I think rebuilding one of my rochester's is in order too.

Can a regular intake be installed on one of those older v8s with the oil fill tube in the front of the engine? It should work as long as I add valve covers with provisions for the oil fill and breathers right? I have some intakes I can use and I have a fresh in the box Quadrajet for a 68 if I want to go with a four barrel. So many options floating in my head right now.

That's where I'm at right now. Everything else seems to be good, but I will be checking things over this weekend.

I was going load the pic I took at the restaurant but when I go to manage attachments I can't pick a photo from my gallery, I have to take one and now it's dark outside.

Cool! Looks solid. I'm assuming it's been restored before (at least to some extent)?

I was thinking back to something he said while I was checking out the truck on Monday, he said the edelbrock carburetor is a 4 barrel, if it is, I will take it off and install my new quadrajet on it after I burn 2 tanks of gas to make sure the fuel system is cleaned out.

No it's all stock except for the overdrive and ac unit, and a couple odds and ends and repairs that were made. I am the 3rd owner of this truck. It has some patina spots but it is solid. Very little rattles, mainly squeaks from the bed. He is going to give me all new brakes for it this weekend as well as a new carrier bearing he has and some other odds and ends he's collected for it.

Hey moderator's, should I start a new thread or have this one cleaned up and renamed?
