86' K5 in my sig:

Bigger is not always better "offroad"

Just because you have a bigger lift and a bigger tires doent mean you will do good off road. With 37s you will be really straining tires. Heck with 35s you will strain someparts depending on what axle you are running. So what axles are you running.

4" Suspension w/ 35" are my vote.

I run 33" with absolutely no lift on my K, and I get NO rub at all. And they're practically brand new tires.

Thats what I said, didnt I? I have 10bolts w/3:73.

The only way not to do it twice is to do it right the first time.

So you lift your truck 4-6" and run 35 tires on 1/2T axles = 6 lug, thats about as much as I would do.

If you want to do 8" and 37's the right way, step up to a 14BFF or D60 now you really really need to add hi-steer, possibly hydroboost, re-gear if they are not matched and buy new 8 lug wheels.

No real way around it.

My K5 with a TPI 350 5" lift and 10 bolts turns the 35's nicely as a DD and holds its own on the trails, but I dont push it.

Would I put 37"s on....not unless I was going to 8 lug set up....

...which is why I havent yet. I want to have axles-steering-tires and wheels all ahead of time and make one install...just my way of doing things

...you really really need to add hi-steer....

Just to clarify, you'd need crossover steering. Hi-steer is different, cool but not required for what your doing.

i have 8 inches of lift on a k20 and a 3 inch body lift take this advice dont do a body lift its horrible. Additionally I run 35x12.50x16.5 the damn truck rides like a rollercoaster the skyjacker springs and shocks are beyond rough, and to be very honest I wish it was a lower lift and had no body lift on it at all just my 2 cents. If your gonna lift it do it clean and classy 4 lift and run your 35's. Thats what my k5 had and it was just what you need.
