Have decided to take the plunge and upgrade my '83 k10 -> k20. Obtained a well used set of k20 axles, will upgrade the stock rear 14 bolt 9.5in open semi-floater with a posi before I install it. Never have done driveline work before, am a bit nervous. Read that the stock carrier holding 9.5 ring gear has left hand threads, can someone confirm or deny before I attack with my impact? Many thanks!

Yeah, it's reverse thread. I had a brain fart one late night and ruined a perfectly good ring gear once.

Left handed threads are found in a lot of areas where it needs to counter the rotation of the object.

For example a table saw uses left handed threads to counter the rotation of the saw blade so the nut doesn't come loose.
