Make sure to do a little research before you buy. There are all kinds of varieties out there.

Wait for it...

I need to get this done on mine as well, going with red bulbs. Actually if you add 4 more bulbs to the list you can do the 4 outside marker lights while you are at it too. :) We have a thread somewhere on here discussing the total number of bulbs in the dash.

I'm planning on doing my dash in a few weekends. The bulbs are old and I could definitely appreciate the extra lumen output by the LEDs.

I recently swapped the 194's in the taillights and the front side markers with LEDs.

Taillights were matched with reds and the side markers were replaced with white.

I would highly recommend to match the LED output color to the lens color otherwise if only whites were used, the output would be dim since the lenses would block most usable light except for the correct wave lengths as well as create hotspots (pink through red lens and yellow through orange lens).

Also plan on replacing the dome and under-dash lights soon enough.

We'll be waiting patiently for pics of them installed :grd:

I ordered 18 pc of the red LED 120 degree 194's and 2 pc of the amber LED 120 degree 120 degree 194's for under 20 bucks at superleds.com, that includes the shipping.

This is a good idea! Half my dash lights are out anyways, might as well do this too. However; I do have 1 obstacle to confront: an old wasp nest inside the dash built on top of the cluster.... Fun!

Kill two birds with one stone then, not too much more to go to pull the pad off and take a shop vac to it under there and clean out the cobwebs, potato bugs and bee's nests LOL

Ok I just learned a painful lesson. :(

The '90 gauge cluster bulbs are soldered to the inserts so they are not replaceable bulbs, you have to buy the whole insert. :(

And when I tried the inserts from the '89 cluster they were too big so they are different diameters as well. :( :(

And I also realized I should have bought white LED's for the turn signals and high beams and CEL and Batt lights. :(

However, the bulbs in the 90 inserts are the same shape as the 194 bulbs, just the little leads of the bulb are wrapped around and soldered to the outside of the contacts. I might see if I can pop one out and try to fit the LED into the socket and see if it works or not.

>EDIT<

Ok looking at the website they do not sell the bulbs/insert assemblies. So it looks like I do have to cut the old bulbs out and the new ones should install and work, I guess. :shitsweak:

The '89 is a cable driven speedo cluster and the '90 is an electronic/DRAC unit.
