so I have this 77 k10 sm465 it was my grandpas truck before he passed away and Ive be been using it as a daily driver the the past few months but today I noticed my rear main seal leaking so I changed the oil pan gasket. My truck was running and driving completely fine earlier today and then I changed the oil pan gasket and oil filter and all that jazz went to go move her out of the garage and bam!! nothing but damn ticking and it’s a real loud ticking I thought it was lifters but I’m not so sure now if anyone’s got any ideas I’d appreciate it I dont particularly wanna blow up my engine

….i am aware it could be the crank bearing or if bolts aren’t tightened all the way it can’t create vacuum for oil pressure but I’m at a loss I’ve gotten every mechanic in the shop I work at to look at her and can’t find where the noise is coming from top or bottom end since it’s so damn loud

I only removed the oil pan cleaned the mating surfaces and that was it nothing else was taken off or removed oil pick up is completely clean too prefilled the oil filter also so there should’ve been very little to no air in the system

So in post 4,you only removed the oil pan,in post 7 you also removed at least 1 main cap. What else,I don't care if it is the oil drain plug gasket, what all did you remove? Every single piece you removed.

ok so starting from the base i drained the oil, took out all the bolts holding the pan, dropped it out cleaned it up with some break cleaner to get any debris out checked my pistons for bolt to bolt movement and it seemed ok,removed the main cap, removed the seal, turned the crank to put in the topside of the seal and retorqued the main cap to 70ft lbs, turned over the crank by hand to check the movement I then put the oil pan back on with the new fel-pro 1-peice gasket and all new hardware for the pan I then took the old fram oil filter and replaced it with a wix oil filter, filled it up penzoil full synthetic 10-30 then I tried firing her up and she made a godawful ticking sound from the get go so I then took of my lifter covers to see if it was a sticking lifter and I didn’t see one sticking but the sounds is very very loud and is even louder when revved… sorry I should have made a lot of this a lot more clear in my previous post my minds scattered worrying about this thing
