Is anyone having any luck buying a vehicle from Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace right now?

I believe all of my vehicles and projects came from Marketplace. But there are a lot on moreons on there for sure.
And I have plenty of moments where I felt like I was talking to a robot or questioned why they had a listing up.
But! The right one will come and the sale will go through for you. Patience is key

Mannnnn. Why's it gotta be on the other side of the world?
It truly is Squaradise in the Upper Left, USA. I am talking to a guy in Florida that has a classic vehicle dealership that wants a sign made. He found out I knew what I was talking about and where I was located, he immediately offered me finders fees for every rig I sourced for him. Could be a lucrative side hustle if it's legit.

Absolutely. I've talked about it with @Grit dog a handful of times. If I ever get super serious about picking up another square, I very well may look up there and fly in and drive it back because there's such a good selection of them. Especially 4x4s and dooleys

Pulling this thread of mine back up after another frustrating Marketplace experience. Car popped up for sale on our local Marketplace last evening. Immediately messaged the seller. Had a quick conversation and set a time for 4:00 today to meet. So, I hooked up my new to me trailer, got money ready, and ready to head out for our 4:00 time. Sent another message to the seller telling him that I'm ready.....Crickets. Half hour later, he replies back telling me that he just sold it (money down and picking it up Saturday).

Not sure why people have no common courtesy anymore. But, this is getting absolutely frustrating.

Marketplace sucks for just that reason Justin. I see stuff I want for the c20 but resist the urge to buy more fancy wheels for it when I still don't have it completely key control, ya know? I see heads or whatever going by but unless I know exactly what I'm looking for, fuggetaboutit. Add the flake seller stuff, and it's Craigslist with a fancy package. But ya gotta try, who knows you might be the lucky contestant sometimes. I hope you weren’t out too much sweat and treasure for that guys social brainfart.

I keep seeing this gear vendors unit set up for T400, less than half price of new, and while I get excited about it, again is it just someone's broken stuff being passed as good? Buying a whole car is easier I think, you can get a feel for a car easier than complex parts. I hope you can find a better deal, from a seller with some ideas on what honor means.

Yup. Frustrating as hell!
I found a vehicle for my niece a few months ago. Almost exact same story. Kinda luck of the draw.
Even better when some toolbag says “cash only….blah blah blah “ and then tells you what they just did. “Uhhh I’m holding it for someone…”
At least he didn’t pull the scammer trick of trying to get you to put money to hold it…..
