Is anyone having any luck buying a vehicle from Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace right now?

I've been chasing a project car since the spring. Not even being very picky about make/model. Just some rear drive, V8 platform as a street/strip project with my teenager. GM G Body, B-Body Chrysler, Thunderbird, etc.

Anyway, I've attempted to look at a half dozen or so that have popped up on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace over the last few months. If the ad says text, I text. If it says call, I call. Only once has one of the sellers even taken the time to respond to a message or return a call. That one was to tell me that they sold it weeks prior and forgot to remove the ad.

What's up with these people? Do they actually want to sell the vehicle or are they just playing games with these online classifieds? Am I the only one running in to this problem?
Just look at EVERYTHING because there are a lot of people that hide stuff and pass it off as being rebuilt!!! Never think your getting a good deal because you probably aren’t.

Around here it's not uncommon to find squares listed for high 4 low 5 digits that are absolute garbage, Bondo over everything and blasted with tractor paint, look it's shiny its worth 8-12k.

My favorite one was a K10 that had a sale sign with 14k. OBO, because square, 4x4, short bed and shiny blue paint from 20 ft away.
It was a short bed conversion that was welded by Ray Charles and probably wouldn't survive a test drive around the block, you could see the high and low spots were the bed sides were welded when you got up to it. 6" lift via 3" blocks and body spacers. As soon as I saw the frame job and weld lines in the paint turned got back in my truck and pulled off before the dude could even come over and say anything. It most likely sold as it disappeared about a month later and haven't seen it since.

I spent 2 years looking for one that wasn't a complete pile of junk locally ended up buy and shipping one in from Washington that was in better shape than anything I looked at here under 10k. I was just looking for a solid cab and frame with a title the rest I wasn't worried about, but everything under 10k was complete garbage. I could have probably got it here and flipped it for twice what I paid.

I did not want to make a new thread (although tempted,...as I see so many great squares on Craigslist).
just seen this bitchen high rider,...looks dipped vs. painted. dipped like in a vat,...not plasti-dipped.

Nice truck and probably worth the $ way up there in the salt belt. Bur damn…someone should have told the ole boy when to put down the red paint gun and use the black one!
