Installing a factory tach cluster in a 1987 V10 350TBI. Do I need a tach signal filter?

All right, finally found a cluster lens with the hole for the trip odo knob so I took the whole thing apart one last time to add a 1988-1989 speedo with trip odo. I found this speedo on FB, NOS still in the box. My original one had just rolled over so worked out perfect. I used an dremel to cut away enough from the 85 tach cluster back to be able to fit it. I’d like to mention that looking online I’m seeing reproduction tach cluster backs made both ways, so if you’re considering putting a cluster together you want to make sure you use the right cluster back because otherwise you’ll be doing a bit of cutting on the back to make everything fit.

Anyway, THIS is the cluster that GM SHOULD have made for these trucks, full gauges. I’ll try and remember to snap a picture at night with them all lit up but here’s the end result right now.

its quite pleasing seeing NUMBERS on the gauges that matter and a tach and a well rounded overall cluster in beautiful shape. its exactly how the trucks should have came, like you said.
