One simple upgrade is to switch to the HEI that is used on the '75 and newer trucks. Very easy upgrade, and you never have to worry about points gap and points replacement again.
thanks! I believe it already has one, She really took very good care of it, it just has the "chevy lean" on the right side so will need new leaf springs.
found out yesterday when i did a search on the vin plate on the door jam and this thing is an early 73 that was made in Freemont California (when commiefornia didnt suck) that has the 71-72 left over vin plates that they used up before making new ones, she even has the original Gas Station Information card in the glove box still!!! she has the original owners manual and all the purchasing paperwork in her house "somewhere"
pretty cool stuff.

How come the side trim is missing from the bed? Also, this one has drip rails. The 73 didn't have them.

They must have added them because yesterday i did a search on the vin plate on the door jam and this thing is an early 73 that was made in Freemont California (when commiefornia didnt suck) that had a bunch of the the 71-72 left over vin plates that they used up before making new ones for the later 73's, she even has the original Gas Station Information card in the glove box still!!! she has the original owners manual and all the purchasing paperwork in her house as well "somewhere"

Was the bed replaced maybe? Don’t see any holes or evidence of the trim being removed or falling off.
Is that the original color? Not sure I’ve seen that color early square ever.
Doesn’t matter, what an awesome time capsule. Hats off to your MIL!!

100% I have the best MIL ever, my wife not so much LOLOL They took such great care of this truck its amazing and im a lucky dude to have it
Bed could have been replaced but I dont see why, they had it covered forever and never been in an accident. The new paint is all through the engine compartment, fenders, jams, inside the fenders etc, was a thorough paint job. Only place you can tell is a little spot on the right front fender where you can see some olive green where the paint was creased. My wife swears it was the gold color when she was a kid but im seeing olive.
No they had it painted and maybe they filled the holes, I may have to look closer at the inside of the fenders. Wouldnt it be something if they used the green as the primer? lol what an anomaly that would be. I mean why not, they used vin plates from 71 - 72, why not use the left over paint as well lolol

My 73 has them, and it's a one family truck. My dad wasn't mechanically inclined to do it. So yes they do come on 73's and it is a Fremont build
