Ok, so my 95 year old mother in law just gave me her 73 cheyenne 4x4 8foot bed with dual tanks with a 350 in it..... Her and her husband bought it off the show room floor and have maintained it immaculately. over the last 15 years it has been driven maybe 15,000 miles!!
This isnt my first old chevy, i had a 68 camaro, 78 blazer, 78 silverado, 71 camaro and a 70 camaro.
cant wait to get the kinks ironed out, having fuel issues right now but thats for a diff thread.

Welcome from Houston ! I don't personally see many of the 73 or 74's any more.

Enjoy ! :waytogo:

Wow! Lucky guy! My MIL is a mental case and not only doesn’t own a square body and they won’t be giving any inheritance to their children….
On another note, looks like they added the rain gutters to it. Personally I love the look of the 73s with no rain gutters.
Almost shaved them off the 86 when I welded up the other 100 little holes in the body, but decided to stay original looking.

How come the side trim is missing from the bed? Also, this one has drip rails. The 73 didn't have them.

I dont know why its missing, they did have it painted years ago and were drip rails spot welded on or screwed on? these are screwed onto the cab so maybe an after market deal?

One simple upgrade is to switch to the HEI that is used on the '75 and newer trucks. Very easy upgrade, and you never have to worry about points gap and points replacement again.

LOL yeah most MIL's are pretty nutts but mine is pretty awesome. I scored in the MIL department but my wife sure didnt LOL.
They must have added them because i did a search on the vin plate on the door jam and this thing is an early 73 that was made in Freemont California (when commiefornia didnt suck) that has the 71-72 left over vin plates that they used up before making new ones, she even has the original Gas Station Information card in the glove box still!!! she has the original owners manual and all the purchasing paperwork in her house "somewhere"
