Rough Country told me to just use a single shock for their kit, even though I have a quad shock setup. I’d prefer to keep the quads.
Did you just use two of the same shock up front or did you have to do some figuring?

It's in the other thread you replied to but the crew cab had 6" Rough Country lift, 16.5x12 wheels (4.5" backspace) and 12.50x35 BFG's. The fenders were perfect and uncut, the tires would rub a little if I hit a bump while turning (driveway, parking lots, etc). I never wheeled this truck but I'm sure the front tires would have rubbed pretty bad off road.

Edit: I will also say that after putting it all together I felt like the 12.50 wide tires weren't wide enough for the 12" wheels, if I did it again I'd use a 13.50+ width tire on that size wheel.

Edit #2: Who am I kidding?! If I did it again I'd probably go 8" of lift and a fat 37" tire. :D The 35's looked small for that long of a truck.

Hey guys, great information here! Just picked up a 87 longbed 4x4 and was wondering if anyone runs 33 x 15.5 x 15 with a 4 or 6 inch lift kind of like this and what are your thoughts?

That’s because the springs are so damn stiff, you barely need a shock at all. IMO

I’d say you’ll need 4” min and possibly axle relocate or cutting the fenders.
Think 6” would look a bit tall for 33s (personal opinion only).
To give you an idea, this is 4” K20 lift. 35-12.50 tires on 20x9 with 3.5” backspace and they don’t clear uncut fenders.
I’m going up an inch and if that ain’t enough, moving the axle forward. (same brackets, zero rates from ord).
Even though you’re talking 33s, I’m assuming the extreme width and inevitable offset to fit/get that look will pose the same issue as my 35s with less offset. Because it’s more the offset that causes the clearance issue than diameter or width.

Planning to put these 20 x 9 on my K20 with 4” lift. What tire can I get away with before I get into clearance issues? I wasn’t planning to put aggressive treads on it.

Planning to put these 20 x 9 on my K20 with 4” lift. What tire can I get away with before I get into clearance issues? I wasn’t planning to put aggressive treads on it.
My 20x9s 3.5bs are basically a -25mm offset (1” neg offset).
Those are 1/2” neg offset.
My old wheels were 0 offset (16x8, but that doesn’t matter when talking offset vs backspacing. Rim width is largely irrelevant. Whereas the same backspacing is a different offset with different rim widths.
0 offset with half wore out 315-75-16s (closer to a new 33” mudder than a 35) did not rub at all under normal daily driving, but had in the past. (I repaired both bottom fender corners from light tire damage).
The wheels and tires I have now, tires are a true 35” mud tire with ALOT of tread depth will rub at full lock with the slightest little suspension bump.

You’re halfway in between the 2 scenarios for rims, so a not so aggressive AT tread may just work barely without rubbing. But something a bit narrower like a 295-65-20 I feel would work without issue for daily driving.

As all lift springs are a bit different and tire profiles/actual sizes also vary, what I said above may be slightly better or worse than I estimated.
Even the trucks are built a tad different or worn or not or bent up at some point or not.
Example, I’m 100% confident that my truck has never been in a major accident or beat on excessively. Yet 1 side is shy of 1/4” different than the other, when the tires are closest to rubbing. Yet with wheels straight, the measurements are the same.

If you have the chrome fender trim, the tires will rip that off instantly. But if the trucks not all gussied up and restored, you could probably get away with minor rubbing say turning tight into a driveway approach.
