Interesting thread... For those who've owned trucks with the 6.2L diesel did any of yours come factory with one or at least still have it?
It's odd... Because my 1982 K10 which is DIesel SHOULD have it, & I can clearly see the original paint under the (Rattle canned) Blue...

Did they even make exact replica replacement hoods back then? B/c I can guarantee mines original just by the weight! (easily 80+ lbs) Like usual. :p
Anyway Mine doesn't have the holes for it... but it should, being a diesel ALL Of them had it (Right?)

My 82 Silverado doesn’t have one. Neither does my buddy’s 84 diesel. Must’ve been an option?

Huh. '82 Silverado does not get one.

'84 Diesel shoulda got one (maybe somebody removed it or changed the hood).

Very odd, So you're saying 82s didn't come with a Hood Ornament!? Or just must've been an option?
Can't be... 90% Of all the images I see online they have them.

My 84 k10 diesel I used to have had a hood ornament.

Additionally my 2 tone 1990 suburban has a hood ornament

Interesting. Maybe it was correct that 1982's where optional? I'm going to verify that was my diesel guru friend.

They are/were never optional, in a stand alone sense.

Always tied to some other option combination or package.

Any idea what they'd be tied to?
I ask because I have a base model 90 suburban with a ornament, and I have a fully optioned 89 suburban that doesn't have ornament?

Interiors are identical as far as I can tell.

It must be some kind of trim?

Both Silverados
