So the dually came with a big 'ol Holley 4-barrel and was rigged up pretty poorly. Don't know too much about them as I'm a Quadrajet kinda guy but a carb is a carb so. . . Anyway the throttle return springs were either hell and not even rigged up for some reason when we went to pick this thing up from North Carolina few years back. My old man ended up making something work and hooking onto something somehow someway. I also distinctly remember like it was yesterday my brother holding his foot to the floor so hard to get that thing down the freeway haha - good times.
We'd purchased a kit that includes a bracket that bolts to the front driver side carb bolt/stud and bolts into a pre existing provision on the carb. And then a mechanism bolts the the armature and you've got 4 springs to choose from - 2 light and 2 heavy depending on the application i suppose. Now this carb has an adaptor between the carb and the intake, with the adapter having a stud for the carb mounting. The kit expects you to remove the fastener, install a spacer so the bracket is level with the pre existing provision and tighten both down. Except the stud from the adapter is not usable with this space and bracket on - no threads left.
Is there another kit? Something easy I'm hoping. I found another obnoxiously large one but yet again utilizes the mounting studs that still probably wouldn't work.
Side note - still got a fuel leak at the fuel inlet into the carb. On these Holleys, is it normally the 2 (teflon?) washers that go around the fitting always failing or is the hose hard to clamp correctly?
