Hi all,

I recently bought a 81 squarebody: 305, with a sm465. Was used as a hunting rig and you can tell. Its got the holley avenger off road truck carb on it with just a wire for the throttle linkage (See photos). Does anyone know how a proper linkage would look like? I want this to be more robust than just the wire. Its my first carbed vehicle ive ever owned. Thank you

I'd use a bushing a bolt and a nylock nut. But here's an interesting idea I've never tried.

Any bracket setup that fits 4150/4160 will work.

If the stud is still not in line with the cable than you would need one of these studs to swap with the bolt that holds the return assembly on the lever I had to do this on one of mine.

I like using the large, top hole. It provides an easier pedal effort and better throttle control. They make bushings for that purpose.

Sometimes I use an actual throttle stud, sometimes I make one.
I never knew there was an actual way to use that huge top hole. Good to know that it makes the pedal easier.

One of mine with the stud in place of the bolt and one of the bushings to hold it centered in the hole.

The 78 is a hodge podge of the Eddy version of the cable bracket I posted above a couple of the bushings, rod ends and some 1/4" bolts and nylock nuts.

At one point, Holleys were an OE carb. The top hole was used with a bushing and a throttle rod (not cable).
