If I am reading the stats on your truck correctly (1987 V30 with a 454), you don't even need catalytic converters. Your exhaust - as originally from the factory - is sweet.

Just two straight pipes (2 1/2") with a muffler inserted in each run:

BTW- That OEM muffler is getting extremely hard to find.

They are made of highly corrosion resistant steel and will easily last for 20+ years - as is the OEM exhaust piping. Here is what my factory mufflers looked like after 29 years:

They were still good, but I am doing a restore so I replaced them with an NOS set (found one @ $329 and the other one @ $189). Took me a few months of looking around to get those prices.

White Racing has 3 remaining (about $400 each):

I live in Virginia and it has to have a cat.I have been checking out everything and this idling problem is how I found that my cat. was stopped up.What Magnaflow should I be looking for I am looking for the best flow I can get and I am planning on using a Flowmaster 50 series muffler I just want a good sound not to loud but enough to know it is flowing good and get the max pulling power out of it.Thanks.

nothing special in ordering them long as they fit the pipe in your exhaust system it'll work just fine. putting on a cat of any kind will quite down a exhaust system. ;)

Sent from the dust in front of you!

I run one of these on my truck and it runs fine and passes the sniffer test and is only 40 bucks.
