High beams not working

So my 1983 K5s Highbeams quit working normally the other day. I was driving and turned my highbeams on and when I shut them off they stayed on but only at half power. I have replaced the highbeam switch and it still doing it. Anyone have any ideas of what might be causing this.

So you're saying you replaced the dimmer switch on the column? Do you by chance have a headlight relay kit in the truck? Anyways, I would suspect either a bad switch, or there's something screwy with the rod (i.e. bent) that actuates it.

I would check the ground from the headlight harness that is near the battery. That's an important thing actually, it does a lot.
