Hey guys, new poster, long-time lurker here. Just a little introduction, my current 87 long bed with 305 and TH400 is my second square. My first square and first vehicle was an 87 short bed which eventually sold.
I had a fluid leak on the driven gear housing on my TH400 and have a few questions. I've never messed with these before. The fluid was leaking out where the cable housing threads on. I found a seal/o-ring kit linked below for the gear housing which appears to be the correct one. However the previous owner had an adapter installed on the gear housing. Can anybody help with finding the o-ring for the adapter? Or could I do away with the adapter if I find the right gear? The shaft on the gear was broken, so I'll need to get a new gear anyway
LINK TO SEAL KIT ON AMAZON
Part number on the adapter is 1565180
Any tips or things to watch out for when putting it back together? The previous owner had some kind of sealant around the large seal. Is that necessary with a new seal?
As stated I've never messed with these before so any help pointing me in the right direction is greatly appreciated
